Physicians & Their Families

Dr. Scher has been providing psychotherapy to physicians and other health care providers and their families for more than 20 years. In that time he has worked with residents, newly-minted physicians and those who have been in practice for a long time. He has also worked with physicians who are in recovery from chemical dependence and those who have been singled out for behavior that has been deemed unacceptable in the medical workplace.

The medical profession is seen by the general public as one of privilege and great reward. The reality is different although there may be privilege and reward the costs are often considerable. The stresses and pressures of both private practice, group practice, and institutional settings are unknown to the public at large but are well known to all who practice.

A respect for the need for confidentiality and privacy as well as a deep understanding of the intricacies and demands of work in the medical profession along with a seasoned ability from long experience make Dr. Scher an able consultant and therapist for this profession.
